How can you predict a home buyer’s future?
How can we be sure that a buyer is in the right place?
The answer to all these questions is weather.
According to data from the National Weather Service (NWS), the forecast for most Canadian cities and towns is pretty good.
However, the forecast has gotten a lot more unpredictable recently, with temperatures rising, snowstorms and tornadoes cropping up more often.
The National Weather Services forecast has shifted from a relatively clear to a cloudy outlook in recent weeks.
“The recent weather events have shown the potential for heavy snowfall,” said Dr. David Aiken, a meteorologist with the NWS in Toronto.
“We’ll have a really good chance of getting some heavy snow and lots of flash flooding, which we haven’t seen before.”
How to prepare for a hurricane season In the past two years, the number of tornadoes has tripled in the U.S. In the first five months of 2017, there were more than 8,000 tornadoes in the country.
The NWS also notes that hurricanes are getting stronger, with the number rising to over 3,000 in the first three months of 2018.
“When hurricanes come along, they bring a lot of storms, so it’s a lot better to be prepared than to be unprepared,” said Andrew Lacey, the director of public safety for Ontario.
“It’s not as if you’re going to get an emergency situation if you can’t get to a hotel.”
How do I know when I’m going to see the first hurricane?
The Nws hurricane forecasts are available to watch at https://www.weather.gov.au/weather-forecasts.
The forecast will update every 10 minutes.
What if I’m in the Caribbean?
If you’re in the Bahamas, you might get a warning.
If you are in the British Isles, it might come in a few days.
If it’s the Bahamas and you’re on the east coast of the United States, it may come in five to 10 days.
How do you predict when a hurricane is going to hit?
The forecast is available at http, www.weatherbell.com/weatherforecasts, and it will update once every five minutes.
The hurricane model can be found at weatherbell.ca/weather/hurricanes.
What about tornadoes?
A forecast for tornadoes is available in a couple of ways: at weather.gov, at http or https://weather.org/weather.
What does this mean for homeowners?
You might think that a storm warning would mean you’ll be warned before you’re hit.
In reality, however, the Nws forecast isn’t always the best way to predict when and where a storm is coming.
If the Nats hurricane model has it wrong, you may not get any warning.
In other cases, a storm could hit your area before you’ve had time to prepare.
“What you’re really seeing is more of an accumulation of storms and it’s just starting to slow down,” said Lacey.
“I don’t think we’re going into a storm season with as much heavy rain as we were a few years ago, but we’re getting into a season where the weather will be more predictable.”
What if a hurricane moves toward the U of T?
In Canada, if a strong hurricane is approaching, you can use the National Hurricane Centre (NHC) hurricane forecast to stay up-to-date on the storm.
The most recent NHC hurricane forecast shows a maximum of 2.5 inches of rain in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal by the end of the day on October 1.
It doesn’t include parts of Nova Scotia and the Atlantic Ocean.
The storm is expected to be strongest in the evening and will arrive on the south coast of Canada early in the morning.
How to get out of a hurricane When the NNW Storm Warning is in effect, the storm is forecast to pass over parts of North America by Thursday evening.
The highest wind gusts in the Atlantic will be at 5 to 7 kilometres per hour.
It will then pass northward to a maximum high of 10 kilometres per day and move through the U-shaped area known as the St. Lawrence Seaway by Saturday morning.
However a large storm like Hurricane Harvey could bring a storm surge of up to 12 metres.
