“It’s a really interesting thing,” says the actor, who grew up in the West Indies.
“I was always a very open-minded kid, always, like, ‘Oh, my God, I’ve got to go back to my family.’
But I never felt like I was, because you always have that feeling of, like—when I was young, you never felt the need to be out, because your family was there.
So now I’m, like a kid again, and, you know, my family is like, [shrugs].
But that’s just me.
You know?
And then my friends are like, Hey, it’s cool, we’ve got these new friends.
It’s really cool.”
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly in March, Dancy said that he has “a little bit of difficulty” in his new home country because he doesn’t feel like he can live up to the standards he’s set for himself.
“If you go and do your job, you do your best,” he said.
“But if you don’t do your work, you’re not doing your job.
And I just think that it’s just so hard. “
And that’s what I have to live up.
And I just think that it’s just so hard.
I don’t think I’m able to do it.”
Dancy says he’s not afraid to do things his way, even if they don’t fit in with his fans’ expectations.
“There’s certain things that I really like,” he says.
“Like, if I want to go to a party, I don’ do it because I don, like the music, and then when I go, I’m like, No, no, no.
I’m going to go, because I like the vibe of it.
And it’s a little bit more like, OK, I’ll have a few drinks, and I’ll go, ‘It’s OK, you’ll love it.
It’ll be great.’
And it’ll be.”
